the response to my travel italia post being freshly pressed has been overwhelming to me, in only good ways! the compliments people have left about the photos are so generous and really mean the world to me. i love taking photos, but by no means think of myself as a photographer. i have gained quite a few new wordpress followers and well, i feel like it brings the pressure on a bit, eh? i was blogging before with the idea that my friends and family were reading, perhaps a few randoms…but mostly i was kind go blogging for myself. don’t get me wrong the goal is to have people reading my blog, i just hope i can continue to produce good posts and continue to bring more readers in. there are soooo many bloggers out there and i sometimes get a little overwhelmed because one’s little blog is easily lost amongst the many. other bloggers i have talked to say: “do it because you love it!” and i do! i love challenging myself to post the best i possibly can. i have always wanted to do a travel blog, but for some reason can’t narrow down my blog to just one idea. i have many. i thought it was pretty great though that a travel post gets freshly pressed, so just more incentive to blog about my travels, past and present.
and then there is this post. i don’t think the photos will compare to that of italy, but then again i had a lot more time in italy to take photos. madrid was the first stop on my month long adventure last year. after having worked in NYC for a few weeks, running through JFK after losing my boarding pass, 2 xanex on a 7 hour flight, and a small fender bender upon arrival in madrid in a taxi…i took a nap. only two nights in this charming city, but i loved it! i have been to barcelona and i have to say i enjoyed madrid much more, but two different trips. barcelona was the last leg on one trip and madrid the first. i was wide eyed and ready to explore! didn’t really do a whole lot but drink and eat! literally: the one whole day in madrid was spent like this:
breakfast at the hotel
a walk to a neighborhood in search of a restaurant,Tabera San Mames, per anthony bourdain
it was closed and waited it out in a bar and had a glass of wine (and small apps as apparently this is what madrid does when you drink anywhere)
then onto another bar for a beer and a small free meal (literally: olives, bread with meat and egg, and a small plate of pasta)
then onto lunch back at Tabera San Mames, where 4 courses and a bottle of wine were consumed
an afternoon of walking around and shopping
starbucks (yes, i know in spain? that was stupid)
then another cocktail in a hotel bar
followed by a nap
and then onto dinner at Gabinoteca
i would most definitely go back to madrid! amongst the million and one other places i would like to go.
Beautiful pics! 🙂

Good series of photos. The 1st one is my favourite
thank you!
yes, i often have to kind of be in the mood for what i blog about! what fun is there to it if not? glad you liked this post too!
your pictures are so full of colors always, love them!
I have the same issue as you do; I would very much like my blog to be about travel experiences. present and past; except I have two problems. One: I don’t travel frequently enough and two: I seem to want to write about whatever else comes to mind. I think you hit it right on the nail–as long as we do it because we love it, that’s what counts. The rest will eventually take care of itself.
BTW, this was a great post too, love the pictures!
